Changzhou kicked off 2025 with the launch of the "Longcheng Shopping Carnival" and a home appliance trade-in program on January 1. The event aims to stimulate green consumption, drive innovation in the home appliance sector, and meet the growing demand for upgraded appliances among local residents.

The program covers 44 categories of appliances, ranging from major items like televisions, refrigerators, and air conditioners to smaller kitchen and household devices. This extensive range ensures it meets the diverse preferences of consumers looking to replace appliances.

Shoppers can enjoy subsidies of up to 20 percent on the final purchase price, applied after retailer discounts. The program includes two subsidy categories:

National Subsidized Categories: Eight categories previously designated by the government in 2024, with a limit of one item per category per person in 2025.

Provincial Subsidized Categories: Thirty-six additional categories identified by Jiangsu Province in 2024, allowing up to three items per category per person in 2025.

The policy is adaptable, with planned adjustments to align with national guidelines, ensuring effective implementation and meaningful cost savings for consumers.

To enhance accessibility, the program is integrated with popular digital platforms such as CCB Life, UnionPay’s Cloud QuickPass, and Alipay, enabling residents to easily apply for and claim subsidies. Additional payment systems are set to join, further streamlining the process and improving user experience.

Building on the success of the "Green Home Appliance Trade-in Program" launched in September 2024, Changzhou engaged 1,102 participating stores by the end of the year. The program distributed over 2.6 billion yuan in subsidies for appliances and consumer electronics, driving the sale of more than 290,000 units and generating nearly 16 billion yuan in sales revenue for participating businesses.
